In 2009, she was chosen to represent Malaysia in the World Championship of Performing Arts that was held in Hollywood, California, USA. She competed in 6 categories: Open, World Music, Jazz, Broadway, Classical and Duet (alongside Yusrizan Yusop, or Bob AF2). She went on to receive 3 gold medals, as well as 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Asmidar was the only singer from Malaysia to receive an Industrial Award in that year. What really put Asmidar on the local commercial music industry was when she became the champion of Vokal Bukan Sekadar Rupa ( a singing competition that has a similar concept to The Voice ). This competition enabled Asmidar to release her first single " Biar Sampai Ke Bintang " in which she introduced herself to Malaysia as a professional singer. The music video for this song manage to receive over 800, 000 views on YouTube. This opened doors for Asmidar in where she received many offers to appear on TV and magazines alike. It was this that made Warner Music Malaysia to sign her on and give her a recording deal.

In 2013, Asmidar released her debut album titled " Kali Pertama " in which the album was nominated as Best Recording Album and Album Of The Year during the Anugerah Industri Muzik. Asmidar was also nominated as Best Breakthrough Artist during the Anugerah Planet Muzik. Asmidar was invited to perform in front of Duke and Duchess of England, in which the royal couple enjoyed the performance. Asmidar does not only ply on her singing skills, but she also composes and writes her own songs. Influenced by the likes of Bjork, Lisa Hannigan and the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee, Asmidar takes it upon herself to get things done efficiently.
